Summary of Human Rights Violations (March 2025) Introduction: March 2025 witnessed one of the most violent periods in Syria since the beginning of the conflict, with widespread massacres, extrajudicial executions, and targeted attacks on civilians. Sectarian mobilization continued to fuel violence, particularly against minority communities, resulting in mass displacement, village depopulation, and the destruction of infrastructure. The March massacre along the Syrian coast alone claimed over 1,500 lives, and mass graves continue to be uncovered. This report documents verified human rights violations in Latakia, Hama, Homs, and Tartous governorates. As reported by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: 1,614 civilians were summarily executed on March 6,7,8, and 9. 62 massacres occurred across the Syrian coast and adjacent mountain regions. However, this figure may not reflect the actual number of victims. Many bodies could have been burned in the fires that swept through the fields, some may have been thrown into the sea, and others buried in mass graves. Latakia City (Al-Buq’ah neighborhood): 1 civilian’s body showing gunshot wounds from summary execution found dumped. Qabu al-Awamiyah: 1 civilian executed by Ministry of Defense and Internal Security forces. Sanawbar: 4 civilians summarily executed by the same forces.
