Syrian Alawites Human Rights Report Appendix IV - Some of the victims of the Baniyas Massacres Baniyas massacre The tragedy began when armed factions entered the area, specifically targeting neighbourhoods inhabited by minorities from the Alawite sect. Alqusur Neighbourhood took the big hit. The first faction to arrive, affiliated with the Ministry of Defence under the so-called interim government, conducted searches and spread terror. Then, a second faction entered and carried out a summary killing operation against the Alawite community, mercilessly killing men, women, and children alike. Finally, a third group arrived, looting, vandalizing, and setting fire to homes and businesses owned by Alawites. The list below is an extract of the data.
